Turtle Bay has great surfing. It’s the place to be if you hear the swells are coming in. Basically you drive on 27 East until it ends. Park at the lighthouse parking if your from out of town, or park down at the cove if there are spots. There are lots more to do at Turtle Cove than surfing. You can also check out the famous Light House, or check out the Surf Casters.
Clamming is fun. Dragging that rake along a mushy bottom and then somehow pulling perfect little clams from all the muck is insanely satisfying, particularly when done amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, namely Acabonac Harbor. But it’s not for everyone, even if you DO have a permit, which you’ll need, so go get one if you want to try it. But still, you have to be patient, and you have to love being soggy and sweaty for extended periods of time if you’re going to get into it. But when you fall, you fall hard. People do get addicted to clamming. But remember, you do need a permit and the Bay Constable DOES check up on people. Don’t forget to enjoy the scenery and wildlife when you’re there. Osprey, Heron — both blue and white, Turns and Plovers are just some of the birds you simply can’t miss when visiting Acabonac.
Without a doubt the prettiest and friendliest tennis club in East Hampton. With 33 mint courtsand a taltented and accomodating staff, Sportime has tons to offer. In addition to its tennis offerings, Sportime also hosts an action-packed full day camp for kids.
Walking dunes, a fresh water lake, the Pacific Ocean and pristine beaches are just a few of the elements that Hither Hills Campground has to offer. There aren’t too many places on the planet quite like it. With such amazing surrounds Hither Hills Campground is extremely popular and can be difficult to get reservations. Several months in advance to a year in advance is suggested for making reservations at this sweet spot. |
